Bio / Press

The Long Rattling Chain come out of the bitter cold midwest wonderland that is Minnesota. Core members John Hardy and Stackolee have played together since 2002, working just about every job there is, and traveling around the world. They’ve brought their brand of early blues, folk, and country to theatres, bars, clubs, and street corners across America and Europe. Their live shows stun the casual spectator and impress the aficionado. They have a vast repertoire of nearly 1000 songs; songs of lonesome cowboys, poor farmers, coal miners, and convicts.

Weekend Watch: The Long Rattling Chain
"Alternative rocker Sufjan Stevens seems to have abandoned his quest to write an album for each of the 50 states. Picking up a bit of the slack is The Long Rattling Chain. The folk duo is spending time in each state and writing a song while in the area. North Dakota is the first on the list, and people curious about the project can check out early versions of the song, which will be released July 8 through the band’s blog, http://songsofamerica.blogspot.com. In the meantime, the Chain will be playing Fargo this weekend as the duo gigs in Speck’s Bar, 2611 Main Ave., at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with no cover charge. (701) 232-0202. The pair will also play an all-ages show at 6 p.m. Monday in the Red Raven Espresso Parlor" - The Forum, Fargo, ND Newspaper, writer John Lamb, June 30, 2011
